Putting university research to use for the benefit of the digital sector. Created in 2004, Floralis is the Technology Transfer Office of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), especially for digital laboratories of the Carnot LSI Institute and the 3IA “MIAI@ Grenoble Alpes”.
Floralis
With its ISO 9001:2015 certification for industrial relations management and technology transfer, Floralis organises its activities within 3 areas. Firstly, technology transfer includes the detection of innovations, the promotion of technological offers, the search for POC fundings, assistance for the creation of start-ups etc. Management of relations between laboratories and Industry covers the promotion of scientific skills, the search for industrial partners, contract negotiation, intellectual property and project completion follow-ups. Finally, R&D and technical activities include research partnership contracts, technological platforms and laboratory services.
Furthemore, as the operator of the Carnot Software and Smart Systems Institute (LSI) Floralis develops industrial partnerships and is responsible for detecting, analysing and promoting the skills and technologies developed in the LSI’s 10 digital laboratories, studying digital market needs and the development and quality of LSI’s industrial relationships, as well as budget management.
Thanks to Floralis’ efficient work, 320 UGA patent families have been filed, 104 start-ups created – 18 of which are in the investment portfolio – and €13M in funding was obtained from SATT Linksium for the technology developments of UGA innovations. Each year, Floralis detects 25 new innovations, manages 100 transfer projects, negotiates 5 transfers contracts with industrial partners and 5 with the SATT Linksium. Moreover, between 250 and 300 new contracts are set up with companies and other socio-economic stakeholders each year, and 450 ongoing contracts are currently managed by Floralis. This represents total turnover of more than €11M in 2019 for 83 employees. A magnificent success story!
